Broadway Is Loud, The Gulch Is Where the Locals Go
Lower Broadway's honky-tonks — Tootsie's, Robert's Western World, Legends Corner — are the tourist engine of the city and they're genuinely good, especially Robert's. Live band from 11 AM to 2 AM, no cover, tip the musicians.
Locals mostly skip Broadway on weekends now and go to The Gulch — The 404 Kitchen bar, Saint Anejo's agave program, Virago's sushi-bar drinks program. East Nashville does the indie/country-punk scene that Broadway stopped hosting years ago: The 5 Spot, The East Room, Duke's.
Nashville's 3 AM last call is real. The post-2 AM taxi and Uber math from Broadway can get ugly on weekends; walking to a side street makes the pickup faster.
